A small wine bar near the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont specializing in natural wines and simple, affordable food.
You can call Quedubon a bistro or a wine bar or a cave. All apply to this address near the Buttes Chaumont, where hearty food is washed down with natural wines from a lengthy chalkboard list, and the only thing pretentious is the name.
“Cook globally, source locally” could be the motto of Les Grandes Tables. Chef Fabrice Biasiolo’s menu draws from world traditions, but the ingredients are French, organic, sustainable…you get the idea. The reviews are mixed. Quirky historical bonus: Le 104 (a cultural center) is housed in what used to be the public morgue.
It’s true that Rosa Bonheur serves food, both small plates and simple plats du jour. But the reason the place is packed is because it is perched in a privileged spot at the top of the lush Parc des Buttes Chaumonts, with a sprawling terrace and a fine view. The mood goes from picnic to party as the day progresses, but there’s always plenty of bonheur.
By day, Olivier Camus runs one of the most respected caves of natural wine in the city. In the evenings, it becomes a table d’hôte. A Wed-Sat prix-fixe dinner offers four no-choice courses for 31.50€, and Sunday nights are à la carte.
Meat is king at Au Boeuf Couronné, one of the last reminders that the nearby Parc de la Villette was once the site of a massive slaughterhouse and meat market. An address to satisfy your craving for steak frites.
