Free Tastings

  • A big free tasting of primeurs at Caves Augé – en direct live du fût ni filtré, ni collé, ni sulfité – from Mas de l’Anglore (Rhône), Chassorney (Bourgogne), Carmarans (Sud Ouest), Foillard (Beaujolais), Puzelat (Loire) et Foulards Rouges (Roussillon). From 11-6pm at 116 Boulevard Haussman, 75008.
  • Le Vin en Tête will be pouring free Bojo from four “purists” - Marcel Lapierre, Michel Guignier, Georges Descombes, and Jean Foillard from 5pm at all three of their boutiques – 53 rue Saint-Placide (75006), 48 rue Notre-Dame de Lorette (75009) and 30 rue Batignolles (75017).
  • If you want a change from the Beaujolais, Pink Flamingo (yes, the pizza parlor whose website opens with a Ramones song) has bottled a Grand Cru Bordeaux and will be pouring free tastes from 6-9:30pm at 67 rue Bichat, 75010.

Wine + Food

  • For tonight’s festivities, Au Passage has commissioned a heap of Beaujolais-friendly charcuterie from Rodolphe Paquin, the chef from Le Repaire de Cartouche (selected this week as our favorite restaurant for wild game). Instead of their normal small-plates menu, Paquin’s terrine de lièvre, pâté en croute, and terrine d’agneau will be served alongside small plates of Saint-Marcellin and tomme au marc de raisin, and washed down by the Beaujolais Nouveau from Georges Descombes.
  • Les Bistronomes is putting together a special lunch menu to accompany the Beaujolais de la Maison Jambon which they’ll be pouring. Three courses for 35€, including oeuf meurette, sabodet with onion confit and potatoes, and riz au lait with salted butter caramel. 34 rue de Richelieu, 75001 (01 42 60 59 66).
  • Coinstot Vino will be celebrating with three juicy wines: Isabelle & Bruno Perraud (cuvée brut de cuve), Cyril & Florian from the maison P-U-R (cuvée Cougar), and Carole & Niko Testard (cuvée les lapins, en Magnum uniquement). From 5:30pm at 26 passage des Panoramas, 75002.
  • L’Hedoniste will be pouring the Beaujolais primeurs from France Gonzalves, accompanied by Spanish and Basque charcuterie. From 6-9pm at 14 rue Léopold Bellan, 75002.
  • O-Chateau is anti-youth and will be offering an alternative tasting of non-nouveau Beaujolais, with six glasses for 19,90€ including Beaujolais Blanc (Pascal Chatelus 2010), Beaujolais Rosé (Pascal Chatelus 2009), Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes (Alain Chatoux 2009), Fleurie (Miss Vicky Wine 2007), Chenas – Quartz (Dominique Piron 2010) and Morgon (M. Lapierre 2010). From 4pm at 68 rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 75001.
  • Spring Boutique will be pouring the new wines from Jean Foillard and Karim Vionnet for 4€ per glass and 15€ per bottle, accompanied by walnuts and charcuterie. From 5-9pm at 52 rue de l’Arbre Sec.
  • Verjus will also be pouring the small-batch Beaujolais nouveau from France Gonzalves, which they say goes perfectly with pork belly and fried chicken. Our question: what doesn’t? From 6pm at 47 rue de Montpensier, 75001.
