The clever pun in the name will, one assumes, be left standing when the half of this hyper-organized shop that’s devoted to wine books and maps eventually shrinks and then vanishes. But that’s okay, because what’s left is one of the more eclectic and personal collections in the city. That is to say: a wine shopper in the States or England wouldn’t be surprised to see German, Austrian or Hungarian labels amidst all the French stuff, but it’s terribly unusual in France. What’s more, the selection is heavily weighted towards white wines (reflecting proprietor Emmanuel Dupuis’ preference). There are a fair number of older vintages, and there’s also an unusually large offering of sweet wines. Tastings are offered on Thursdays.

Le Figaro (2010) “A titre personnel, je suis convaincu par sa sélection dans la mesure où j’estime que le vin blanc est bien plus polyvalent, et un magnifique compagnon de table, source de plaisir.”
