NOW CLOSED. The appeal of Merce’s uber-cool upper Marais café lies in both its style (a very deliberate mix of retro furnishings and fixtures) and its substance (fresh and colorful salads, American-style bakery goods, and some of the best espresso in Paris).

- David Lebovitz (2010) “…this is the only place I’ve seen in town that tamps down their coffee…it’s nice to have a place close by where I can find a café express that’s not thin or bitter.
- Barbra Austin(2010) “Merce’s mix of sweet and savory bites, including multi-colored quiches and salads next to Rice Krispie treats and carrot cake, will make many Americans feel at home.”
