Le Grand 8 restaurant in Paris | Paris by Mouth

Le Grand 8

Le Grand 8 is a low-key, winemaker’s restaurant in the middle of Montmartre tourist hell. They serve simple, well-executed meat and potato dishes, accompanied by a very strong wine list that favors natural wines. While the food is basic, not mind-blowing, the wine, friendly service and unbeatable location make it a great option for groups and out-of-towners. >> Read More

pizza carboneri at il brigante pizzeria in paris | parisbymouth.com

Il Brigante

You get dinner and a show at Il Brigante where the kitchen and dining room are one and the same, and a Calabrian pizzaiolo is turning out masterful cracker-crusted pizzas loaded with authentic Italian imports. It’s smokey, steamy, and entertaining. Try the Carboneri with a runny egg, guanciale, bufala mozzarella, pecorino and a sprinkling of black pepper. The restaurant is as tiny as the menu (just pizza and a handful of desserts) so advanced booking is advised unless you want to queue outside for quite some time. Pizzas available to go, too.

Arepas at Bululu Areperia in Paris | parisbymouth.com

Bululu Arepera

Essentially just a take-out counter and four tables, Bululu has a vegetarian-friendly menu of handmade arepas (a griddled, gluten-free corn flatbread) stuffed with avocado, Venezuelan cheeses, plantains, beans or meat. A single arepa makes for a substantial enough sandwich when paired with the excellent homemade plantain & yucca chips with guasacaca (a thin guacamole-like dip). Wash them down with sugar cane juice or Venezuelan rum-based tropical cocktails served in mason jars. Due to the small size, you’ll probably have to wait but turnover is fast. Arepas available to-go, too.
