Praise for Isabelle

This was our first food walking tour in Paris and we booked based on reviews here on Tripadvisor. The reviewers did not disappoint. We did the Left Bank tour with Isabelle and learned so much about the area, foods we were eating and wine pairings. I didn’t know Roquefort and a sweet wine paired so well! After our tour, Isabelle, an accomplished pastry chef, sent us a complete listing and description of all the selections we enjoyed. The small group size allowed us to go into the shops where Isabelle was making our purchases and become part of the daily Parisian experience. We ate along the way and also had plenty to eat when we arrived at the wine shop to complete our adventure. You will definitely not go hungry. Don’t be concerned about a three hour walking tour as the shops were situated close by so it isn’t strenuous even though you want to believe you are walking off all those calories.

We were in Paris for a long weekend & friends recommended PBM—it did not disappoint! This tour was the perfect combination of eating delicious food, learning about wine & cheese pairings (and Frnech food culture), and seeing a new part of Paris. The pace was leisurely and perfect, and our group was small (5 people), so it was easy to shop in the stores and to discuss the various foods as we enjoyed them over wine. Our guide, Isabelle, was fantastic—knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Recommended!

What an absolute treat this food tour is. There’s a reason this tour was written up in the New York Times and is one of the top rated tours on Trip Advisor! They really do it right. All the guides have been, or are in, the culinary business in some way, shape, or form, and really know their stuff. Our guide, Isabelle, was so incredibly knowledgeable and exceptionally personable, she really made the tour exceptionally special. During your 3-hour treck around the area of the city you choose, you will shop like a real Parisian!

Isabelle was very friendly, outgoing, and knowledgable! She definitely pushed some of our pickier eaters into stepping outside their comfort zones, and we ate pigeon- not bad, don’t be scared! We got a little surprise on our visit in Patrick Roger as Patrick himself happened to walk in while we were shopping! We loved each place we went so much that we went back the next day and bought something from every place again!

Isabelle was such a knowledgeable, affable and fun guide. My wife and 3 teenage sons had a really great day while eating the best meats, cheeses and chocolates. And being lead around St.Germain while not knowing the streets of Paris was a treat.

As many others have attested, this tour is one of the highlights on a Paris visit. The St Germain food tour with Isabelle felt like an outing with an old friend rather than a guided tour. Isabelle has tremendous knowledge of the craft and history of the local food scene. Because our group was so small on this particular day (due to the local strikes) she tailored the tour to our particular tastes, but still led us to be adventurous. I would highly recommend this tour, even to take it a second time.

The lovely Isabelle led us through the Left Bank regaling us with her stories about life as a pastry chef while imparting all sorts of interesting facts about the area, the wine, cheese, chocolate and more. It was truly delightful and fun. Three and a half hours (30 minutes longer than we expected) flew by. I highly recommend Paris By Mouth tours and Isabelle although this is my third tour with Paris By Mouth and they have all been wonderful. I also really enjoyed meeting the other two women on our tour – all interesting and friendly. This was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.

Isabelle was our tour guide…she has a background in pastry, but obviously has a vested interest in all things food. She did a nice job of giving us insight to each of our stops and talked with all of us as we walked in between stops. Isabelle got all of our input when purchasing food, and then would use her knowledge to make purchases that she thought would be good for us. When we got to the wine shop at the end to eat and imbibe, Isabelle shared info on all of the cheeses, which was really interesting. We had plenty of food throughout the tour to fill us up! Isabelle also followed up with an email after the tour to give us info on everything that we tasted, which is nice to have for reference…hoping to track down some of the cheeses in the states!

Isabelle was the best tour guide! We toured St. Germain. This was mine and my husbands first food tour and it was absolutely worth every penny! Isabelle was full of knowledge about everything we tried plus gave great tips for where to eat while we were visiting! I wish we would have taken the tour sooner so we could have tried more of the recommended restaurants. I look forward to returning to Paris so I can explore other areas!

A big thank you to Isabelle, our very knowledgeable tour guide. We had a leisurely, informative walk as Isabelle purchased our food for tasting. We were given background information on the shop, the proprietor, and of course the food at each stop. It culminated in a wine cellar cave below a wine store w/a feast of all the purchases & of course plenty of wine while learning about the regions, processes, nuances of each tasting from a very energetic Isabelle! Excellent.
