ABOUT THIS NEIGHBORHOOD
The southern Marais contains a lively Jewish quarter and is home to a large number of 16th century mansions, many of which have been converted into museums (Picasso and Carnavalet). It’s also home to many art galleries, a large LGBTQ community and world class shopping. The neighborhood’s diversity makes it a joy to explore, and its concentration of outstanding chocolate and pastry shops makes it wonderful for a food tour. This is also one of the only neighborhoods in Paris where high-end food & wine shops are open on Sunday afternoon and on Monday, making South Marais a great option if that’s when you’re looking to tour.

ABOUT THIS TOUR
This tour varies by day and what’s open, but we’ll usually visit one of the top fromageries in Paris, where cheeses are aged to perfection in underground caves – a real treat for cheese lovers. We’ll be tasting these along with crusty baguettes and wine at a wine shop located in one of the oldest (if not THE oldest) building in Paris that dates back to the middle ages. In addition to tasting and learning about bread, wine and cheese – the so-called “trinity” of the French table – we’ll include charcuterie and some sweet treats from this neighborhood that is full of award-winning artisan producers. You can plan on visiting 5 shops of exceptional quality – these vary to reflect the season, your guide’s expertise, and your cravings – and eating enough that you won’t need a meal soon after.
As with our North Marais and West Saint-Germain routes, this tour features some charcuterie. If you don’t eat meat, you can skip it, and there will be plenty of other delicious tastes for you to enjoy. If you prefer to join a tour that does not include meat, we recommend our Left Bank and East Saint-Germain tours.

PRICE & PRACTICAL DETAILS
Our very popular small group tours are limited to 8 guests. Tickets are priced at 130€ per person, including generous food & wine tastings. Tours are led by food & wine experts and last around 3 hours. We’re mostly moving & standing during the first 1.5 hours, with a seated tasting the last half of the tour. The seated tasting in the winter is always indoors and cozy and with wine, making this a great activity for cold or rainy days. Just come prepared with an umbrella and good shoes for the first half of the tour.
We’ll send you the exact meeting point upon booking, but you can plan to finish near the Saint-Paul Métro stop.
CANCELLATIONS POLICY
Refunds are available for those who cancel with at least 48 hours notice minus a €20 cancellation fee per ticket. No refunds or changes are allowed within 48 hours of your tour. Clients who arrive more than ten minutes late without calling or not at all (no-shows) will be treated as cancellations with no refund. Our tours run rain or shine.
Clients who are booking tours within 24 hours of their arrival in Paris should be aware that we do not offer refunds in the case of delayed flights (because this is such a common occurrence).
