Pluto operates as an all-day cafe inside Lafayette Anticipations, a contemporary art center in the Marais. Chef Thomas Coupeau’s menu is compact and vegetarian-leaning, with lunch formulas at 22€ for two courses or 26€ for three.
Quality varies significantly across dishes. Vegetable starters arrive as minimal portions with inconsistent execution. The pappardelle suffered from undercooking and clumping. The croque monsieur with pastrami performed better, delivering satisfaction and actual substance. Desserts were competent.
The space functions more successfully as a quiet cafe for reading or working than as a dining destination. The atmosphere lacks the cool factor that might justify premium prices for small portions, and the food alone doesn’t warrant a special trip.
Pluto’s primary utility is availability—it’s often empty when surrounding Marais restaurants are packed, making it useful for spontaneous lunches. If you need a table immediately or want a peaceful workspace with decent coffee, it serves that purpose.
