Don’t miss our 50 Favorite Restaurants in Paris
Patine opened quietly in December in the former Café Mirabelle space, and it would be easy to overlook — the room is bare brick and borrowed furniture, the speakers were silent on our visit, and the service is still settling in. What isn’t easy to overlook is the cooking. Julien Chevallier, who spent years in well-regarded Paris bistros, turns out precise, generous plates that feel personal without being fussy: a pâté en croûte stuffed with pork, foie gras, and pistachio; a porchetta that arrives as a mound of herb-rolled shavings swimming in concentrated jus; a Loire-leaning wine list that rewards curiosity. Three courses for 50€ is a fair price for food this carefully made. The room will catch up. In the meantime, come for the kitchen.
