Double

Double restaurant in Montmartre in Paris

Hurry yourself to Double, a “micro-restaurant” in Montmartre where chef Tsuyoshi Yamakawa blends ingredients + techniques from Japan + Italy in a punchy eight-course tasting menu for only 62€.

Double won’t be for everyone, but it’s a tremendous addition to the Paris scene. Modern & creative cuisine is increasingly the purview of very expensive and fussy restaurants. We’re genuinely thrilled to find someone doing it so well at this price point.

DOUBLE

87 rue Lamarck, 75018 (Montmartre)

IN OTHER WORDS

  • The Infatuation (2024) “Ricotta-stuffed maritozzo sprinkled generously with ikura and scallop-filled ravioli are two reasons locals are hiking up to Montmartre to eat at this shoebox of a restaurant with only counter seating. Is it Italian? Is it Japanese? It’s a bit of both, thanks to a Japanese chef who spent seven years cooking in Italy.”
  • Le Fooding (2024) “Dinner plates nibbled under the rust-toned lights, taking inspiration from all over the place: scallop tartare with smoked ricotta and shaved Chioggia beets; a comforting maritozzo (a plump brioche) filled with lemony ricotta and dotted with salmon roe; quail prepared two ways (roasted thigh and as a North African “brick” pastry), served with potato purée and a deeply reduced jus de viande.”
