Le Duc is an institution, and among the best places in Paris to eat seafood. The dining room — gleaming wood-paneled walls, the atmosphere of a very elegant yacht — is genuinely one of a kind, and the service matches it. The sole meunière is the signature: the fish arrives whole at the table before being filleted and plated tableside by servers who know exactly what they’re doing. Oysters are spectacular, the carpaccio of dorade is rightly famous, and the dessert cart — île flottante, baba au rhum — adds a pleasantly old-fashioned ceremony to the end of the meal. It’s a serious splurge, but the cooking and the room both justify it. Le Duc is on our 50 Favorites list for a reason.
